What’s Coming Up for Annie Rees Photography: Autumn Weddings, Castles & Wedding Shows

I honestly don’t know where 2026 has gone.
After an incredible year of weddings across Scotland, I’m heading into the final stretch of the season, and there are still five very different weddings to photograph before I finish for the year.
And I’m very excited about what’s coming.
Coos’ Cathedral, Aboyne: September
First up is Coos’ Cathedral on the Aboyne Castle Estate in Royal Deeside.
This one is going to be something a little different, think country estate, castle surroundings and shotguns. Basically, plenty for me to photograph.
Coos’ Cathedral itself is a fantastic building. It was constructed in 1889 as a grand steading for pedigree cattle and now sits within the Aboyne Castle Estate as one of the North East’s most distinctive private wedding venues.
It has huge stone walls, arches, enormous windows and all that beautiful texture that works so well with my documentary style of photography.
Very excited for this one.
Thainstone House, Inverurie: October
Then it’s back to Thainstone House.
Thainstone is an elegant 18th-century mansion set in the Aberdeenshire countryside, so it gives us a completely different look again, historic interiors, sweeping grounds and that classic Scottish country-house wedding feel.
One of the things I really love about photographing weddings is exactly this: no two venues, couples or days are ever quite the same.
Halloween at the Albert Halls: October 🎃
Then things get spooky.
On Halloween itself, I'll be photographing a Halloween-themed wedding at the Albert Halls.
Cue the pumpkins.

I LOVE when couples put their own personality into their wedding rather than feeling they have to follow a particular formula, so a full Halloween wedding is absolutely up my street.
I'm already imagining the possibilities.
Forgan’s, Broughty Ferry: November
And apparently I'm not getting the day after Halloween off.
The very next day I'll be heading to Forgan’s in Broughty Ferry for another wedding.
From Halloween one day to Broughty Ferry the next, this is going to be a fairly epic weekend.
Banchory Lodge: 7th November
Finally, my 2026 wedding season will finish at Banchory Lodge.
It feels like a very fitting place to finish what has been a huge year for Annie Rees Photography.
By then I'll probably be ready to put the cameras down for approximately five minutes before starting on everything planned for 2027.
Because next year is already looking rather lovely…
New wedding venues for 2027
One of the most exciting things about looking ahead is seeing some completely new venues appearing in my diary.
I'll be photographing weddings at:
Megginch Castle, Fyvie Castle, The Sail Loft, Pittodrie House
…and plenty more.
There are CASTLES in my diary.
Actual castles.
Fyvie in particular is going to be incredible to photograph, while Megginch gives me another completely different historic Scottish setting. Pittodrie House is surrounded by around 2,400 acres of private grounds with views towards Bennachie, so there certainly isn't going to be a shortage of places to take photographs there either.
2027 is starting to look like a brilliant mixture of historic venues, country houses, relaxed celebrations and completely individual weddings.
Which is exactly how I like it.
Come and meet me this autumn
Before all of that, I'm also taking the road to three wedding exhibitions this autumn.
And I've checked the details because there are actually two different North East wedding shows taking place on 4th October this year, which makes that date particularly confusing!
Love & Co Moray Wedding Show: Sunday 13th September
I'll be at the Love & Co Moray Wedding Show at Elgin Academy, running from 12pm–3pm.
There will be more than 40 wedding suppliers, live music, a fashion show and LOVE Talks, and general entry is free.
The Big Buchan Bridal Bash: Sunday 4th October
Next is The Big Buchan Bridal Bash at North East Scotland College's Fraserburgh Campus, from 11am–4pm.
This is a big one, with more than 50 wedding suppliers, live entertainment, a fashion show and lots happening throughout the day.
Important: Love & Co are ALSO holding their Aberdeenshire Wedding Show at Thainstone Exchange on 4th October, but that is a separate event.
Aberdeen Wedding Exhibition: Sunday 18th October
And finally I'll be at the Aberdeen Wedding Exhibition at the Beach Ballroom on Sunday 18th October, 11.30am–3pm.
It's one of the larger Scottish wedding shows and brings together photographers, venues, bridalwear, entertainment and loads of other wedding suppliers under one roof.

Very little standing around wondering what you're supposed to do with your hands.
And judging by the weddings already sitting in my diary, 2027 is going to be a good one.
