There is something incredibly special about a Scottish elopement. It strips everything back to what really matters: the couple, the people closest to them, the setting, and the quiet moments that make the day feel completely their own.

Meghan and Brian travelled from America to marry at Loch na Bo Estate near Elgin, bringing their family with them for an intimate celebration beside the water. It was elegant, relaxed and full of feeling, the kind of wedding day that did not need anything forced. The setting did so much of the talking.

Loch na Bo is one of those venues that feels tucked away from the world. The house overlooks the loch, surrounded by gardens, woodland and beautiful old interiors. It has that rare mix of grandeur and calm: historic rooms, soft window light, antique details, open lawns, and then the loch just beyond it all.

The morning began inside the house, with Meghan getting ready in soft natural light. These are always some of my favourite parts of a wedding day to photograph, not because everything is perfectly posed, but because there is a quiet anticipation in the room. The dress hanging against the old walls, make-up being finished by the window, small details around the house, and those little moments before everything begins.

Brian got ready nearby, with portraits by the window that felt simple and calm. I always love these quieter frames. They give the story a pause before the ceremony begins.

Their ceremony took place by the water, with family gathered around them. It was intimate, scenic and beautifully personal. Lochside ceremonies have a stillness to them that is hard to describe. the landscape becomes part of the day without overpowering it. The vows, the breeze, the reflections on the water, the family watching on. It all felt very natural.

Afterwards, we took time for relaxed portraits around the grounds. Loch na Bo gives so many options without needing to travel anywhere else: the front of the house, the gardens, the woodland paths, the loch, and all the little architectural details inside. Megan’s dress moved beautifully in the light, and the blue of Brian’s suit worked so well against the spring colours and the water.

One of the things I loved most about this wedding was how peaceful it felt. It was not rushed. It was not over-styled. It was simply a couple who had chosen somewhere beautiful, meaningful and quiet to marry, with their family beside them.
