A Logie Country House Wedding

Conner and Amberley’s wedding at Logie Country House was one of those days that had a bit of everything, beautiful weather, loads of time outside, a ceremony full of personality, and an evening that became gloriously wild in the best possible way.

Because it was a dry day, we were able to make the most of the venue and get lots of photographs outdoors. That is one of the big strengths of Logie Country House. Set in the Aberdeenshire countryside near Inverurie, the exclusive use estate includes extensive grounds, views towards Bennachie and the River Urie, ancient woodland walks, courtyards, and even its own private island, so there is loads of variety for portraits without ever needing to leave the venue.

Logie Country House is a 1680s castle and estate on land dating back to 1492, now run as an exclusive use wedding venue. The house has 17 bedrooms sleeping up to 50 guests, and the estate is designed for two or three day celebrations, which gives weddings there such a relaxed, immersive feel. It really does feel like you get the whole place to yourselves, which changes the atmosphere of the day in such a lovely way.

From a photography point of view, it is a brilliant venue because it gives you both character and flexibility. Inside, the house is full of antiques, paintings, open fires and cosy corners, while outside you have peaceful countryside, formal and informal spaces, and so many lovely spots for couple portraits and guest photos. For larger celebrations, Logie also has a purpose built, soundproof, air conditioned ballroom that seats up to 160 day guests, while smaller weddings can be hosted more intimately in the main house.

One of my favourite things about Conner and Amberley’s day was that they decided to make a cocktail for their guests during the ceremony. It was such a fun, unexpected moment and so perfectly them. I always love it when couples build personality into the structure of the day rather than simply following the usual script. It made the ceremony feel relaxed, memorable and full of energy right from the start.

The good weather meant we could properly lean into all the outdoor possibilities at Logie. The courtyard is one of the venue’s highlighted spaces for outdoor or intimate ceremonies and drinks, sheltered by historic walls and greenery, and the wider grounds give couples loads of scope for romantic portraits as the day unfolds. On a dry day like this one, that outdoor freedom made such a difference and gave the whole gallery a fresh, open feel.

Then came the evening, and this is where things really took off. I have some wild photographs from later on, the sort of frames that couples end up loving because they capture the real chaos and joy of a brilliant party. Weddings at Logie are built for that kind of full day experience too, from the relaxed daytime atmosphere right through to dancing late into the night in the ballroom.

And then, of course, there was the special guest appearance from Dobby the house elf. Which is exactly the kind of sentence I love being able to write in a wedding blog. It added that extra layer of humour and madness that made the evening so memorable and so completely theirs.

What I loved most about this wedding was the mix of elegance and fun. Logie Country House can absolutely give you the grand, beautiful, exclusive use setting, but Conner and Amberley made it feel playful and personal too. That combination always makes for the best kind of gallery, one that looks stunning, but also feels real.

If you are planning a Logie Country House wedding and want a day that feels relaxed, stylish and full of personality, it is such a strong venue choice. Between the private estate feel, the beautiful grounds, the character of the house, and the flexibility of the spaces, it gives couples so much to work with.
